The distinct appearance of this dinosaur will undoubtedly entice you at first glance. First, Psittacosaurus has a relatively "big head" and a bird-like beak in comparison to its body. The shape of its beak is similar to that of modern parrots, which is where the name "Psittacosaurus" comes from. Because of its beak, Psittacosaurus can easily snip off plant branches and leaves to obtain food, making it an ideal herbivorous dinosaur to keep at home. Second, Psittacosaurus is roughly the size of a large dog, making it an ideal pet.

Most adult Psittacosaurus are only 1 to 2 meters long, approximately the size of a Labrador dog, with a short and stout body that allows them to adapt to smaller living environments. You can easily provide a comfortable home for Psittacosaurus whether you live in an apartment, a small house, or a limited space in the city.

Psittacosaurus derives its scientific name from the Greek words for "parrot" and "lizard." Psittacosaurus, unlike lizards, walks primarily on its hind legs, with its front limbs occasionally used for support during movement. Their hind legs are strong and short, making them ideal for long-distance outdoor walks. They also have long, feather-like bristles on their tails and lower backs that are arranged in a row like fluttering little flags, adding to their cute appearance.

Psittacosaurus is the most diverse dinosaur species, with as many as 12 species discovered in China, Mongolia, Russia, and Thailand. While the size and skeletal features of different Psittacosaurus species vary, they all have a similar body shape. You can select the Psittacosaurus that appeals to you in the same way that different people prefer different dog breeds. Various Psittacosaurus species from around the world have been specially collected and bred by our shop staff, allowing you to choose based on your preferences and situation.

Psittacosaurus lujiatunensis, discovered in Liaoning Province, China, and Psittacosaurus sibiricus, discovered in Russia, are the largest in size, reaching lengths of up to 2.5 meters. Psittacosaurus mongoliensis is a slightly smaller dinosaur that can grow to be 2.2 meters long and weigh 20 kilograms. Psittacosaurus neimongoliensis is similar in size to Psittacosaurus mongoliensis. For urban dwellers and novice dinosaur enthusiasts, we recommend the smaller Psittacosaurus sinensis, Psittacosaurus meileyingensis, Psittacosaurus gobiensis, and Psittacosaurus ordosensis among these four species that are suitable for courtyard keeping. Psittacosaurus gobiensis, for example, is only 1 meter long, while Psittacosaurus ordosensis is even smaller and is known as the tiniest.

Whatever Psittacosaurus you choose, their habits and lifestyles are quite similar, so their care requirements are fairly uniform. Psittacosaurus eats mostly plants, and you can feed them a variety of plant-based foods, such as fresh vegetables, fruits, and leaves. They are not picky eaters, which makes it easier to care for them. Psittacosaurus is a member of the Ceratopsian suborder Psittacosauridae. Psittacosaurus, on the other hand, has slender, small teeth that are densely distributed, unlike most ceratopsian dinosaurs. These teeth are excellent for cutting tough plant material but not for chewing or grinding it. They use gastroliths (stomach stones) to aid in the grinding and digestion of food in their digestive systems, similar to modern birds. Palaeontologists frequently find gastroliths in the abdominal region of Psittacosaurus fossils, which can number in the hundreds. If you notice your Psittacosaurus losing appetite, consider offering it some small stones to aid digestion in addition to diversifying its diet.

Psittacosaurus has a unique jaw structure that allows them to control the movement of their upper and lower jaws independently. Their beaks can close up and down to cut food when their jaws are aligned. However, if the lower jaw is retracted and placed inside the upper jaw, they can crush nuts. This trait allows them to move quickly while feeding. Having your beloved pet perform a "nut-cracking" act during family gatherings will undoubtedly bring a lot of joy.

At the same time, close attention should be given to humidity levels. You can use a humidifier to increase humidity, and you can plant some plants around their living area to provide enough shelter and hiding places. You can even set up a small pool for them to play in, as research indicates that their tail functioned similarly to that of modern crocodiles, allowing them to move forward in water by paddling with their front limbs and kicking with their hind limbs.

Minor wounds heal with care in the unfortunate event of an attack or injury. However, if you notice any leg injuries, please notify our professional healthcare staff right away. Because Psittacosaurus is a bipedal animal, leg injuries can impair mobility and, if severe, can result in death. We previously dealt with a Psittacosaurus leg injury in which the affected area necrosed due to a lack of blood supply. Despite surviving for a long time after the injury, the patient died as a result of irreversible damage.
