后缀-ic = ...的，...学、...术，与...有关的人
前缀来源于法语-ique或拉丁语-icus、希腊语词尾 -ikos，作为拉丁或希腊后缀的-ic有两种属性：
主要充当派生后缀，加缀在名词后面构成形容词，表示of∼（与...有关的）

having the nature of ∼（有...性质的），being∼（是...的）；made up of ∼（由...组成的）；made or caused by ∼（由...引起的）；like ∼（像...的）。
充当原生名词后缀，主要加在希腊词根上，表示an art or system of thought（艺术，学术），或者 a person connected with ∼（与...有关的人）。顺便指出，当-ic 充当名词后缀时，对应的形容词往往由-ical结尾。

（1）表示“属于…的、有…性质的、具有…的、关于…的、似…的”
1.atomic [atom 原子 + -ic 后缀 → ]
adj. 原子的
2.atmospheric [atmoshper = atmosphere n.大气 + -ic 形容词后缀→]
adj.大气的
ex)Normal atmospheric pressure on the earth's surface at sea level is 14.7 pounds per square inch.
在地球的海平面上，正常的大气压是每平方英寸14.7磅。
3.bombastic [bombast n.夸大之言 + -ic 形容词后缀→]
adj.说大话的；夸夸夸其谈的
ex) His bombastic speech annoyed us. 他那言过其实的演讲令人讨厌。
4.heroic [hero n.英雄 + + -ic 形容词后缀→]
adj.英雄的；英勇的；崇高的
ex)Everyone in the town was moved by the heroic deeds of the firemen.
救火队员的英雄事迹感动了城里的每个人。
5.alcoholic [alcohol n.酒精 + -ic 形容词后缀→]
adj.酒精的；含酒精的
ex)Whiskey and gin are alcoholic liquors.
威士忌与杜松子酒都是含有酒精的饮料。
6.quixotic [quixot n.堂吉诃德 + -ic 形容词后缀→]
adj.堂吉诃德式的；富于浪漫幻想的；不切实际的
ex) With quixotic bravado,they declared they would conquer the whole world in a matter of weeks.
他们以堂吉诃德式的虚张声势，宣称要在几周之内征服全世界。
7.volcanic [volcan n.火山 + -ic 形容词后缀→]
adj.火山的；由火山作用所引起的;火山似的；暴烈的
ex)The Romans used a mixture of volcanic ash and slaked lime to build the Colosseum and the Pantheon. 罗马人用火山灰与沙石灰混合物来建造圆型场与伟人祠。

①表示“属于某种职业或宗教信仰的人、做…事的人”
1.critic [crit = to judge 判断 + -ic 名词后缀 → 对学术作判断 →]
n.（文艺）批评家，评论家
ex)What did the critics say in the newspaper about the new play?
评论家们在报纸上对这出新戏是怎么说的？
2.rustic [rust 农村 + -ic 名词后缀→]
n.乡下人 / 庄稼人
3.classic [class 阶层，级 + -ic 名词后缀 →]
n. 古典作家,文豪
②表示 “…学、…术及其他抽象名词”
topic → 论题 / 题目
1.logic [log = word,idea 字，思想 + -ic 名词后缀→]
n. 逻辑,伦理学
ex)Logic is the science of gereral principlces of good and bad reasoning. 逻辑学是一门研究推理方法之优劣的基本原理的科学。
2.music [mus=Muse 缪斯（掌管文艺、音乐等的女神之一）+ -ic 名词后缀→ 缪斯的艺术之一 →]
n.音乐
ex) The study of music deals with the principles of melody,harmony,rhythm,tempo and timbre.
音乐研究涉及到旋律、和声、节奏、速度与音色等方面的原理。
3.rhetoric [rhetor = orator 演说家，雄辩家 + -ic 名词后缀 →演说家的技巧 →]
n.修辞学
ex)Studying rhetoric can improve one's ability of speaking and writing.学习修辞学能增进一个人的说话与写作能力。
