在旧金山曾发生一起留学生虐狗案宣判，他因在电梯内拖拽、踢打一只10个月大的柴犬，被警方以“虐待动物罪”逮捕。法官判其在三年内不准养宠物，另外需要从事社区服务并且支付柴犬的生活费。
短短30几秒内，就拖拽狗绳，踩、踹、打，拖行狗狗数次。他对待这只仅仅10个月大的小狗就像对待仇人一样，没有任何原因地随意虐待它。
他们难免孤独，但是却又真的有点自私。把生命当作宣泄压抑的出口，肆意蹂躏践踏，反射出的又是怎样扭曲的灵魂。
美国有项研究表明：虐待动物和每一种暴力犯罪，甚至和大多数非暴力犯罪都有直接或间接的关系。

新西兰承认动物有意识
New Zealand is considered to be one of the leaders in the field of animal welfare and protection.
新西兰被认为是动物福利和保护领域的领导者之一。
As of now, causing animal suffering through cruelty or failure to act is prohibited, as well as studies and experiments on animals.
截至目前，禁止通过残忍或不采取行动造成动物痛苦，以及对动物的研究和实验。
Also, there are requirements to limit or prevent harm caused to particular animals such as marine mammals and game animals.
此外，还要求限制或防止对特定动物如海洋哺乳动物和野生动物造成的伤害。

在弗吉尼亚州，偷狗可判10年监禁
As we mentioned before, in many U.S. states, dogs are viewed as property by law even though people consider them to be their family members.

Therefore when someone steals a dog, in the eyes of the law, it will not be kidnapping and in the majority of the cases.

Nevertheless, according to Tingen & Williams, it won’t be that easy in Virginia as stealing a dog is a Class 5 felony which is punishable by up to 10 years in jail regardless of the monetary value of the pet.

According to World Animal Protection, if you find an abandoned dog or cat in Poland, you’re required to notify an animal shelter, fire authority, or police.

Then the abandoned dog or cat will not have to wander and starve on the streets. Also, commercial breeding of cats and dogs is prohibited.

This year, Russia is taking a big step in reducing animal cruelty.

In most U.S. states when a married couple decides to get a divorce, their pets are treated the same way as property no different than TVs or cars even though they’re considered to be family members.

Now, in case of divorce and legal separation, the animals are treated almost the same way as the children: the judge determines who will get custody of the pet taking into consideration what’s best for them.
